Saying “Happy Holidays” to the masses!

This is the perfect time of year to share a small token of affection with those around you.   Although, if your list is anything like mine (extended family, neighbors, coworkers, teachers, mailman, etc.), it can quickly get out of hand.  This is what I like to call “mass gifting.”  While the ideal is to pick out individual presents for each person, sometimes that not feasible or financially possible.  BUT, a homemade gift can be a perfect solution (and time-saver) to show all those people how much we care.

Here are my top ten {thoughtful, yet efficient} ways to show love to the masses this holiday season.

1. Homemade Hot Cocoa:  Here is a recipe from one of my favorite blogs, Brown Eyed Baker (browneyedbaker.com) for a quick and easy homemade mix.

make it special:  Package it up in a cute little mason jar along with some chocolate dipped marshmallows, rolled in crushed candy canes, on sticks.

2. Sugar Scrub:  Chances are you have all the ingredients on hand to make a wonderful sugar scrub.  Tip Junkie has 14 sugar scrub recipes for you to choose from!

make it special:  Again, package it up in a mason jar and tie a little spoon to the jar with baker’s twine.

3. Eggnog Pound Cake:  While I’m not a huge eggnog fan, this rum pound cake sounds divine.  A perfect Christmas treat!

make it special:  Package it wrapped up in a cute tea towel and tied with a ribbon.

 4. Truffles: There are many recipes out there but these are my favorites.  These couldn’t be more impressive (or easy! ;)

make it special:  Package 4 in a tiny treat box (available at craft or baking supply stores) with a handmade bow (check out Pinterest for ideas).  Or….have you heard of cake balls? Yum!

 5. Favorite Cookies:  Bake up a batch of your favorite Christmas cookies and share the love!  I’m sharing my favorite recipes next week. :)

make it special:  Include a handwritten recipe card.  Who wouldn’t love a new recipe to add to their rotation?

6. Homemade Flavored Syrups:  Have some coffee lovers on your list?  Whip up some homemade flavored syrups.  Perfect for coffee, hot cocoa, sparkling water, etc.

make it special:  Include a small package of your favorite coffee with the syrup.

7. Something in a Jar:  The “In a Jar” trend is still going strong – cookies, breads, brownies.  Take your pick!

make it special:  Add some pretty fabric and ribbon to the top of your jar and don’t forget the recipe.

8. Soy Candle: Who doesn’t love a yummy smelling candle?  One that’s homemade is even better!  Click here for easy instructions.

make it special: Make your candles in a cute teacup and saucer (inspiration from marthastewart.com).

9. Christmas Simmer Jar:  Did you ever think it was possible to bottle up Christmas?  Well, here you go!

make it special: A homemade tag (instructions included) is all you need for this special gift.

10. Homemade Artisan Bread:  A fresh loaf of bread is sure to knock their socks off and couldn’t be easier.

make it special:  Maybe, just maybe, you could share the recipe and show how simple it is to make this awesome bread anytime! ;)

**Bonus Idea – Cranberry Orange Vodka: Nothing says “Merry Christmas” like infused booze.  I saw this idea on marthastewart.com and couldn’t not share. ;)

What are your favorite homemade gifts for the masses?

Thanks for the ideas. What great tips! I think I may try the homemade hot chocolate for the grandparents this year.

Awesome! I’d love to hear how it turns out if you give it a try. I tried the eggnog pound cake. It was pretty good!
